A Factorie Clash

So I am currently enjoying the summer vibe that Factorie, an Australian brand surrounding teenage fashion which has found its way to South Africa, has to offer. I must admit the place isn’t perfect and I have found a few clothes of bad quality but the general trend is fun clothes which are easy to slip into and fall in love with. They are so popular that you can’t help but bump into people wearing the same clothes as you which is a bummer but I suppose it only speaks for the on-trend atmosphere of the brand.

One of the new style trends which has arisen this season which Factorie has taken full advantage of is what I like to call the skirt-shorts. These are shorts which are loose and casual and take on the look of a skirt except you don’t have to worry as much about the wind causing you to flash everyone. I, being an anti-short person, have found that this trend works to my advantage because it looks and feels like I am wearing a skirt so I invested in a pair.I am now very fond of them and maybe (just maybe) I may have to invest in another.

Another favourite from Factorie are the new halter neck crop tops. I love this shape on me, I love how it makes me look and feel and I already own two versions of this shirt.

Of course, me being me, I had to have a moment of clashing patterns. I haven’t done it in a while and I feel like I have an empty space in my fashion soul so I decided to go for it once more. It may look like I am wearing very little clothing but what you must understand is that with temperatures reaching above 30 degrees Celsius almost everyday one rarely wants to wear clothes at all. I love this look because it’s cool and comfortable but has my added bit of mischief to it.

Dungarees – My new favourite look

The past couple of weeks have been a time of relaxation for me after my exam period and I will tell you about it in great length when I build up the strength to try put it all into words. I am very aware that I have not written a blog post in quite some time but I have been travelling around the coast with little to no source of internet let alone a moment to sit down and write but here I am, 2 days before Christmas finally with the long awaited momto give to my blog. Of course it is a fashion post which tends to be the general look of my blog because I have to share my new found love for the dungarees. See I am not a lover of shorts, it’s a vaguely irrational dislike that I cannot completely explain but to say that I feel uncomfortable in them. So when the dungarees reared it’s denim features back into the fashion limelight I wasn’t taken by it because it is after all just shorts with an added bit on top but then when I walked into Cotton On’s store looking for beachwear I spotted the skirt version. Now I know it isn’t a remarkable invention and it’s been around before but I tried it. I wouldn’t say it was love instantly but it looked cool and I figured it would be quite versatile but when I was actually on the beach I found myself drawn to the item more and more. I wanted to wear it everyday. I was, and still am, hooked. Most girls have a staple pair of denim shorts which they will slip into when ever they need but I didn’t have that luxury … now I do.

I can wear it with crop tops, t-shirts, swimming costumes and more. I am in love and this, so far, is my favourite item of summer. I suggest you go out and grab one as soon as you can.

Here are a few ways which I like to style the Denim Dungarees Skirt.

In this look I am wearing a staple, plain grey t-shirt crop top, a (free) Coca Cola flat cap from Vac, my back pack which I adore, a pair of not so white soviet sneakers and of course the dungarees.

This was my swimming look but the weather proved to be unaccommodating and the wind lashed me back and forwards so I couldn’t achieve much but I still love this coral bikini (which I stole from my sister) the colour is amazing, my Havaianas and a slightly clichéd flower head band.

My favourite look with the dungarees is when it is combined with my short sleeve, button up shirt. I think the pattern is great and works really well when it sticks out from a jersey or another top. The glasses are the cheap Mr Price type but I love the oversized bug-eyed/Ozzy Osbourne look and the best part of the look is the completely over-the-top bright sandals which like the dungarees I cannot get enough of this season!
